Trends in logo design 2022/23

The 21s are in desperate need of a rebrand after a less-than-ideal start to the new decade. Fortunately, the following logo design trends for 2022/23 are more than capable of meeting the challenge.

We polled our global community of logo designers, and their forecasts reflect the changing climate of the design world. While last year’s trends centered on reinvention through new technology, this year’s trends are more focused on communication.

The top ten logo design trends for 2021 are as follows:
1-Stained-glass windows
2-Drawing in perspective
3-Geometry that is straightforward
4-Various letters
5-Portraiture that is genuine
6-Perfection in symmetry
7-Characters with unusual personalities
8-Symbolism that has been modernized
9-Moving in a static state
10-Color schemes that are similar

1-Stained-glass windows

Logo design, as a relatively new concept, frequently draws inspiration from historical practices and restrictions. In the year 2021, many logo designers are inspired by the stained glass windows of the Middle Ages.

2-Drawing in perspective

Great design is born from simplicity and clarity, as legendary logo designer Lindon Leader once said. These two characteristics are what enable logo designs to effectively express a brand’s complex identity to a viewer. It’s why minimalism and flat design have been so popular in the past.

3-Geometry that is straightforward

Shapes are the fundamental elements of visual. While simple shapes like triangles, squares, and circles are frequently phased out once they have set the foundation, there is strength in their simplicity.

4-Various letters

For better or worse, wordmarks—logos based on a typeface—have a reputation for being clear. They make the brand name the focal point of the logo, making it more memorable, but they don’t give much space for creativity. But, one letter at a time, the 2021 logo designers are changing that impression.

5-Portraiture that is genuine

It is a well-known fact that individuals are drawn to other people’s faces, which is why portraits are useful in design for building an emotional connection. The stronger the relationship, the more genuine and recognized those faces are.

6-Perfection in symmetry

While similarity and predictability may appear to be synonyms for redundancy, symmetrical design is all about power. They remind us of skyscrapers, which are built to stand their ground, no matter how tall or intricate they are, and do so by perfect symmetrical balance.

7-Characters with unusual personalities

While logo designers are leading the charge in representing real people, many others in 2021 will use caricature and overdone comedy to oppose this. From a rat playing doctor to a flamboyant donut dandy, we’re seeing an increase in mostly illustrated logos that express funny, though bizarre, notions.

8-Symbolism that has been modernized

From the springing Phoenix to the immortal goddess to the all-seeing eye, logos have always had their roots in ancient symbols. A logo’s goal, like that of ancient hieroglyphs and pictograms, is to communicate through simplified imagery.
